Broaden understanding of Christ as study his words and actions as recorded in Scripture and celebrated in sacrament
Gain understanding of the salvation history of God’s people as it unfolds in the Old Testament and is completed in the New Testament
Participate in school celebrations of Mass, the Sacrament of Penance and Reconciliation during Advent and Lent, liturgy preparation as well as participation in other Catholic traditions
7TH GRADE:
Study the life of Jesus and the New Testament, and how God becomes man through the Incarnation of Jesus
Study the Gospels and letters in the New Testament
Encounter Christ and His teachings and learn to take a role in the New Evangelization as the followers of Jesus
Expand learning of the four pillars of the Catechism of the Catholic Church (CCC), including what Catholics believe, how they worship, how they live, and how they pray
Examine the life of Christ in all four Gospels and many of the writings of St. Paul in the New Testament to learn how to live them out every day
In-depth study of the Bible and participate in the Liturgy weekly
Develop a foundation for moral decision-making and chaste sexual health choices
Participate in school celebrations of Mass, the Sacrament of Penance and Reconciliation during Advent and Lent, liturgy preparation as well as other Catholic traditions
8TH GRADE:
Explore the ancient teachings and Tradition of the Catholic Church
Revisit the ways that God reveals Himself to His people and what He intends to show us through Scripture and the life and teaching of the Church
Focus on the Person of Christ and the meaning of His Incarnation and Gospel
Study the history of the Church including the causes and effects of the Protestant Reformation and Catholic Counter-Reformation
Examine the modern day Church and its critical and unique role in the world
Explore the importance of the Sacraments and forming a strong conscience to live a moral life in imitation of Jesus Christ
Experience a more in-depth study of Scripture and the Traditions and teachings of the Church
Participate in school celebrations of Mass, the Sacrament of Penance and Reconciliation during Advent and Lent, liturgy preparation as well as participation other Catholic traditions
