Technology plays an important role in the curriculum at SMCS. St. Martha Catholic School is committed to offering real-world, hands-on technology training. We prepare students to utilize technology to enhance learning and enrich their lives. By integrating our Catholic belief system, we enable students to meet the challenges of an ever-changing global society with compassion and respect. Our technology program is based on the International Society for Technology in Education's National Educational Technology Standards for Students (NETS•S), the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS), and the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston educational outcomes. LOWER & UPPER ELEMENTARY (KINDERGARTEN-5TH GRADE):
In Kindergarten through Fifth Grade, students visit the computer lab weekly and are encouraged to utilize classroom computers and mobile labs. Our curriculum is centered on learning basic computer concepts, using productivity tools to create products, keyboarding, coding, digital citizenship, and using the Internet for research and communication. Technology projects are integrated into curricular subjects such as Religion, Reading, Math, Science, Social Studies and others.
MIDDLE SCHOOL (6TH-8TH GRADE):
In middle school, students visit the computer lab weekly and participate in a 1:1 Chromebook program which allows all core classes to seamlessly integrate technology into each content area. Our curriculum is centered on learning basic computer concepts, using productivity tools to create products, keyboarding, coding, digital citizenship, and using the Internet for research and communication. |
